A few notable scores in open competitions by Billingham members.
Michael Wray and Glenn Waterman won the Coors open at Cleveland with 46 points
Jimmy Dilworth and Alex Nicholson 2 nd at Seniors open at Dinsdale with 49 points
Jimmy Dilworth and Brian Morgan at Brass today 47 points in Teesside Union Seniors event. Overall result not known at this time
A mention for Peter Riley and Jimmy Dilworth winning the Teesside winter Foursomes beating Eric Garbutt and John Szyman in the final.
The result of the recent Junior Championship saw Jacob Brown winning with a gross score for 2 rounds of 160 beating Nick Winstanley into 2 nd place with 166 two round total.Jacob also won the Nett prize with 148 James Burgum coming 2nd with 149.
The latest Golfer of Year points table is on the notice board with Daniel Wilson leading at present with 33 points 4 in front of nearest challengers. However there is still some way to go in this race.
The Captains weekend was a great success with John Winning taking the coveted men’s prize with 46 points. Next year the Vice Captain is considering all competitions to be played on the Saturday with the presentation taking place that night.
The Seniors team are currently in 3rd position with 58 points having played 8 matches. Hunley Hall in 1 st position with 69 and Eaglescliffe 2 nd with 66 points having played 9 matches. Since l last reported Billingham had a heavy defeat at Hunley 13-0 and a good win at home against Brass Castle 11-2. All to play for to retain our 1 st division title with 4 matches to go.
The Inters Team are currently in 3 rd place behind Dinsdale and Bishop Aukland but both of these teams still have a bye week to come so good luck to Jonathan Clayton and his team as only 2 teams qualify for the final. You can read all about the Inters on the website
The Club Championship at the weekend saw Brad Hildreth prevail beating Paul Mcgrath into 2 nd place. Jonathan Clayton winning the Morgan Trophy for the best nett total.
There are a number of Open competitions,better ball, 4 person team, Invitations etc still to be played please check notices,BRS etc for details. PLEASE support the club by entering these competitions.
The lists are up for the Presidents Cup and Festival trophy in the locker room.
The list for the Veterans Trophy will up on Monday 23/7 in aid of Prostate Cancer. As mentioned last month £5 entry fee £2-50 of which will go to the charity. The 1 st and 2 nd in each division, under and over 65, will play in a final at Eaglescliffe.
Don’t forget the Seniors tour professionals are here at Billingham on 15-17 August with the pro- am on the 15 th.
