There is 1 match to play at Bedale so all to play for, best of luck to our boys.
The Seniors have won division Abu a large margin their last 3 matches resulted in 2 wins Billingham 9-4 Blackwell Grange, Brass 8-5 Billingham, Dinsdale 5-9 Billingham giving us a total of 91 points. Well done to all our players and Senior captain Norman Evans.
You will all know our Course Standard Scratch has increased from 70 to 71 to match our par of 71 from competition White tees. This will mean handicaps decreasing more rapidly than in the past. No longer 39 points, +3 or nett 69 being in the buffer zone or 37 points getting .1 back.
We have recently had competitions best 2 out of 3 and 2 out of 4. To speed up play we only need the 2 best scores on the card therefore if you cannot score pick up which will automatically speed up play and reduce frustration of the game behind.
On a sour note we have had member or members defacing draw sheets on the competitions board. This will not be tolerated and anyone caught doing this will be banned or even thrown out of the club. These sheets allow you to put a time you would like to play at.lf you need to be off at a certain time we will try to accommodate this otherwise you can put e.g.veam,late pm etc.
Our professional Mike Ure qualified for the British Seniors Open at Royal Porthcawl a great achievement. However conditions over the 1 st 2 days were treacherous resulting in a 134 th finish with rounds of 81 and 86, 25 over par. You could tell how bad the conditions were when players of the calibration Bob Tway and Peter Mitchell finished behind Mike.
The Mixed team will be representing Durham county at Woodhall Spa on18/8/17. We wish them all the luck against teams from the rest of the country.
