Terry Conlon,Danny Wilson, Bob Kirton and Dave McGreal represented BCG at Saltburn in a competition to commemorate the 125 year anniversary of the Yorkshire Golf Union. Our team won the 9 hole competition best 2 from 4 with a nett 62, 10 under, beating Catterick and Eaglescliffe on a count back. They now go to Huddersfield to represent Durham Union in the final.
Neil Kerr and Simon Jones represented BCG in the Durham County Inter County 4 somes preliminary round at Ramside but unfortunately were beaten 3 and 2 by 2 + handicap golfers.
The early competitions have proved the course is playing tough because of the tricky cold east winds and the dry weather making the greens firm and bouncy.
The Top Dog is at the final stage Paul Hewitson and Graeme Nimmo play Tony Collict and Albert Spence.
The Darchem Bowl is also at the final stage, Stuart Bell and Jon Hill play Tim Baker and Rob Bryson.
The Union, Seniors, Inters and Rabbits team matches start shortly and any support for the teams would be welcomed by the players and team managers.
The Winter Opens proved popular and will be continued later this and next year.
The last winter Open is on Easter Monday and there are a few spots still available.
The Teesside Union are holding their late spring competition at Billingham on Monday 29/4 the entry list is by Julie’s office along with other Teesside Union and Durham County events.
The race for golfer of the year has started with Paul Hewitson and Brian Morgan making the early running.
Up coming competitions include Captains Cup and Wolviston Quaich the lists being on competitions board in locker room.
