There will be a major change to the current diary. The Senior Mixed Open on Wednesday 22/8 is to be cancelled and replaced with a 4 person team event best 3 out of 4 to count full handicap up to men 24 max and ladies 30 max £40 entry per team. This is because we have no entries to date and only 9 entries for the cancelled Mixed Open on 3/6/18. Please support this new competition.

l went to a meeting at Washington GC with Bernice Peakman when we were introduced to the new World Golf Handicap system.Needless to say it was a lot to take in on the day i.e. Slope Indexes etc further meetings will take place in October with a date of 2020 before it comes into force.
In the Stableford and Rosebowl competitions the Comps committee will be checking cards for players putting scores which cannot score points etc. Please pick up if you can’t score to improve Pace of Play.
The Veterans competition Saturday 25/8 will be for prostrate cancer awareness. I will be asking for double the normal entry fee of £2-50 i.e. £5, £2-50 going to the P C charity. The 1 st 2 in each of the categories will represent Billingham in a competition at Eaglescliffe and trust this will not deter you to enter. Our member Alan Munkleys daughter Doctor Helen Munkley will be on hand during the day as she specialises in this subject. Also there will be banners etc by the 1 st tee and around the clubhouse.
Finally the Durham County Championship held at Billingham was a huge success and it was only in the 4 th round that these excellent golfers got to grips with our difficult course. We had very positive reviews and l know we did our very own John Kirk proud as you all know this being his 2 nd year as President of the County. Brad Hildreth finished 16 th overall a creditable performance.
