The Teesside union team championship was held on Sunday 29 May at Castle Eden. Out of 18 teams Billingham were in 7 th place with a combined total of 440. Our team comprised of Brad Hildreth, Richard Donnelly and Simon Jones with Brad shooting gross 67 for both rounds to post the lowest 2 round score of the day out of 54 competitors. Castle Eden won the event with an overall total of 423!!
The Top Dog final played last Monday was won by Brad Hildreth and Paul McGrath defeating Howard Robinson and Phil Jones 4-3 after being all square at halfway
In the Senior League we lie in 2nd place having played 2 home and 1 away match with 25 points behind Blackwell Grange with 27 points.
The last 2 matches at home saw an 11-2 win and a 10-3 win against Teesside and Eaglescliffe .Our next match on Monday is at league leaders Blackwell
We are planning a new winter card with new stroke indexes. Durham county will shortly be reassessing our 2 courses for course standard scratch
As a trial we have introduced a new card receiving box for singles comps, split into 3 sections A B C divisions. Cards must be put in sideways and flat ,not folded, for it to work. Please refer to notes on box if in doubt!!
I witnessed union team match today V M/bro Muni score 23-1. The highlight being Gent’s Captain Neil Kerr winning 10 and 8.
I have just posted the first golfer of the year list on the comps board and the early leader is Steve Corkain.
