Junior Golf for June 2008

June has been a quiet month for the Junior Section.  The Sunday training sessions and Monday evening sessions continued with an increase in numbers attending the Monday evening sessions.

The Junior Team have recovered from a bad start by our standards.  We started the season with three away games which we lost.  In June we turned it round and were unbeaten in our league games recording two 9-1 victories a 6-4 and 7-3 which was a great achievement by our Junior team.  My thanks to all the players.  Chris Bravey - Team Manager, and the Junior Captain - Mark Bravey.   We are still involved in the Junior Foursomes and are through to the 3rd round.  A full report next month on our progress.

Billingham Golf Club has a popular and thriving Junior Section which is well supported by the Directors and adult Members. One of the reasons for the section being so popular is because of the very reasonable Junior fees - under 12 fees are £60 and 12 & over £135 - there is no joining fee!

During the week we organise 3 hours of supervised practice, with advice being given by experienced adult and junior golfers. Juniors are also given a certain amount of coaching from the Club Professional, Mike Ure - the aim being that all Juniors receive one hour of coaching every 6/8 weeks.

We have 9 girls within our section and would like to encourage more young ladies to join.

If parents have any questions concerning Junior golf, please contact Junior Liaison Officer, John Darbyshire on 01642 675363.
