SENIOR’S CAPTAIN 2019
Well, Week 6 is finished and we are top of Division 1 now. We have a 9 point lead over 2nd place Eaglescliffe but they have 1 game in hand, which is an away match at Hunley. Not an easy place to go to. All teams will have played 6 matches by the end of next week. Our next match is away to Blackwell Grange on 24.6.19. The team is playing well. Our worst result so far has been against Eaglescliffe at Billingham when we lost 7 – 6, but it could have been worse with 3 matches going to the last hole. Food is still great, so thanks to Tony. I will be in touch in about 3 weeks time with a further update.
Hi all, I feel a little like David Moyes taking over from Alex Ferguson at Man Utd, after Norman had won the Seniors League for the last 2 years, but it is the team that can prevail.
Well, we are into our 3rd week of Seniors Team matches. We are currently 2 and 0 and one match postponed. We won our first match at home against Blackwell Grange 8 to 5, a win but a little disappointing for a home match, we ill need to make sure we do something similar when we get to their place. Our second match was against Hunley Hall at Hunley on Wednesday 8th May. When we got there the rain was horizontal and the wind was ridiculous. Myself and the Hunley Captain had a very short discussion and we decided that the match needed to be postponed, we were drowned out by the cheers from both teams, so that match is now going to be on the 29th May 2019. Our third match was a home tie against Teesside on 13th May 2019, which we won 11 to 2, so a great result. One Billingham pair won 8 up and another 7 up !!
League wise, we are 5th out of 7 at the moment but that is only issued up to and including our 2nd match, which was postponed, so we should move up the table once we catch up with the games.
Our next home game is 20th May 2019 against Catterick, so good luck to the team for that one.
We have had a good start and it will continue with our great team spirit.
The food provided by Tony Johnston has been great so far, we have had Steak Pie & Chips, Mince & Dumplings with Chips and on 20.5.19, it is Chicken Curry (not sure if its with chips or rice). Thanks Tony.
Anyone interested in playing for the Seniors Team, then please email me on firstname.lastname@example.org. You need to be 55 or over and have an active handicap with Billingham Golf Club.
